What does We engAGE offer?
We engAGE has TWO strands that it offers:
1) We engAGE workshops, training and mentoring based on the We engAGE model for individuals living with Dementia.
2) iPad based workshops inspired to raise confidence and usage for 'Silvers' (over the age of 50). These can be designed around the specific group with their needs at the forefront of what is covered in the session/s.
Here are the We engAGE packages that we offer:

Initial Workshops at Kirkley Lodge Residential Care Home, Coulby Newham
Today was the first of many We engAGE workshops for Kirkley Lodge Residential Care Home in Coulby Newham!
Today was a chance to meet and get to know the residents and to see how they responded to iPad technology! I was amazed with how eager people were to touch the screen and to see what it was all about!
I know this is going to be a fantastic group...keep posted for developments, news and photographs!

Developments for We engAGE!
iPad Workshops at Kirkley Lodge Day Centre as part of Stage Two are now nearly at the end.
I have really experimented and explored what the iPad can do in both a one to one and group like setting, incorporating themes, visuals, music in the aim to engage members with Dementia. It certainly has been more of a challenge but at the same time i have accumulated a list of do's and dont's when using iPads in this type of setting.
The outcomes from Stage One and Stage Two of the project are obviously completely different and that is what is really interesting to find out when facilitating a pilot project. The outcomes will be available to view online in the Gallery as well as on Newsletter Two which will be available mid November to read!

STAGE THREE - KIRKLEY LODGE RESIDENTIAL CARE HOME
STAGE FOUR - YORK NHS HOSPITAL
I have also started planning well in advance for Stage Three and Four of the project and will be adapting a 'Get to Know YOU / Life Story' phase to the initial stages of the project so i can get to know all the residents / patients involved before i begin to design appropriate and person led activities. I did accomodate for this in Stages one and two but i aim to delve in further especially in the later stages of dementia as this is essential!
I will also be visiting York NHS Hospital this week to see the ward and how it works, alongside meeting the Head sister and working through logistics of how We engAGE will be delivered successfully.
